Best TV antenna for:
Sacramento, CA 95816

Hi Denny, I have perused your site and have a couple of questions. High winds in yesterdays storm pulled one of the four anchor bolts out of my roof. The 138" long Channel Master TV antenna and mast is now scrap metal. I live in Sacramento, CA. 95816. Our house is two stories with a moderate pitched roof. This would put the TV antenna at about 25' to 30" high. The local stations are all about 22 miles away at 172 degrees. I regularly use the antenna to listen to FM radio. Would the Winegard MS 2002 work for this situation. Thanks, George.

Greetings George,

The MS 2000 antenna is not your best choice. It is not designed for good FM performance. Plus, the TV stations transmitters are all in the same direction so a directional TV antenna is a better choice. My recommendation is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the TV antenna with the narrower end of the antenna aiming at about 170 degrees on the compass. Along with the antenna I recommend the HDP 269 preamplifier. The EZ HD will provide excellent reception for both TV and FM. Best Regards, Denny

Best TV antenna for:
Sacramento, CA 95820

Address is _________ Blvd. Sacramento, CA. 95820. Inside attic or outside. Ronald.

Hi Ronald,

I examined the reception data from two separate sources and there's no doubt the best choice is the EZ HD TV antenna. The antenna can be installed in a stationary position with the narrower end of the antenna aiming South. The EZ HD antenna will provide great reception on all of the area channels.

If the TV antenna will supply a single Tv without the use of a signal splitter signal amplification will not be needed. If a signal splitter will be installed within the antenna system I recommend the use of a signal distribution amplifier such as the HDA 100. Install the HDA 100 amplifier in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter. Best Regards, Denny

7. Approximately how long will the coax cable run be from the antenna to the TV. If a signal splitter is in use how long will the cable run be from the antenna to the furthest TV: 20 ft

Hello Lisa,

A great choice for the location is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming west/northwest. See photo. In this position it will receive all of the San Francisco area channels. Because a signal splitter will not be in use and the cable run from the antenna to the TV is only 20 feet a signal amplifier will not be needed.

Lisa, if you have any questions please feel free to reply.

7. Approximately how long will the coax cable run be from the antenna to the TV. If a signal splitter is in use how long will the cable run be from the antenna to the furthest TV: antenna to patch panel=50', patch panel to tv=50'
8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: I have direct line of site to Mt. Sutro tower in San Francisco. Also, my Homeowners Assn. would like a small profile antenna.

Hi Kenneth,

There are both VHF and UHF signals available. The antenna can't be too small or you won't receive the VHF signals. The smallest antenna that will provide both VHF and UHF reception is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming South/Southeast.

Along with the antenna use the HDA 100 signal distribution amplifier. Install the HDA 100 inline just before the signal splitter on the antenna side of the splitter.

I'm very confident that the suggested items will provide excellent reception at your location.

If you have any further questions please ask.

Best TV antenna for:
Santa Barbara, CA 93101

I live in Santa Barbara, CA. 93101 and am looking at the MS 2000 TV antenna. With some rabbit ears we can pull in a few channels but we have to re-acquire each channel due to location. I'd like to get an antenna that does not require a rotor. Do you think the MS 2000 will work? Thanks, Kevin.

Greetings Kevin,

After examining the reception in your area I believe the MS 2000 TV antenna is a good choice for your location. However, keep in mind when mountains are involved nothing is a sure thing. I guess that's one reason why we offer a money back guarantee. If I were you I'd go with the MS 2000 since the alternative is a directional antenna and a rotor. Best regards, Denny

Santa Fe Springs, California 90670

Hi Denny, I live in zip code 90670 and all I need to get is my local HD channels. My big screen Samson has a built-in digital tuner. I get some of the channels using rabbit ears antenna but I get a lot of disruptions (weak signal) from time to time. What do you suggest I get for a good simple outdoor antenna? What are my options? Thanks for your time, Jorge.

Greetings Jorge,

I examined the reception data and found that the EZ HD TV antenna is a perfect choice for your location. The EZ HD antenna is very effective, and easy to install. If you will be supply one TV location from the TV antenna signal amplification should not be needed. If a signal splitter will be in use I recommend the HDA 100 signal distribution amplifier installed on the antenna side of the signal splitter. The recommended equipment will provide outstanding TV reception at your location. Best Regards, Denny.

Best TV antenna for
San Andreas, CA 95249

Thanks for any help you can offer. I live at ________St. San Adreas, CA. 95249. I want the TV antenna to supply two TV locations. I would like to mount the antenna in the attic but would be willing to mount outdoors on the roof. I'm about 45 miles from the TV stations in Sacramento and there are some foot hills in between. Ken

Greetings Ken,

I examined your reception conditions and found the signal strength to be somewhat weak at your location. The TV antenna of choice for the attic is the HD Stacker TV antenna. Along with the antenna use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The TV antenna can be installed in a stationary position with the antenna aiming West at about 160 degrees on the compass. See TV antenna aiming. Best Regards, Denny

Best TV antenna for:
San Bruno, CA 94066

Denny - I've been paying $20.00 for basic, basic cable and I get crap channels - local plus several foreign language channels. I would like to try a real TV antenna. However, I want to mount it in the attic. With that said I live in San Bruno, CA. 94066. I would like to get KCRA in Sacramento, per antenna web 67.2 miles away if possible. which antenna should I get? I have a HD tuner built into my TV and currently don't get any HD channels. So I'm excited about getting free Hd channels. Thanks, Chris

Hi Chris, The only TV antenna i can recommend is the HD Stacker TV antenna. I don't think anything smaller would provide reception on the distant KCRA channel. Along with the antenna use the HDP 269 antenna preamplifier. The HD 269 is a high signal input antenna and will not overdrive the signals from the local channels and yet will provide signal amplification for the weal KCRA.

If I can assist you further please don't hesitate to contact me. Best Regards, Denny

Best TV antenna for:
San Clemente CA 92672

Dear Antenna Guru, I'm looking for a good TV antenna that's not obnoxious nothing 14 feet long. I'm using an omnidirectional antenna but sometimes they go to crap especially when my favorite shows are on. Hope this is enough info. Rob and Amy.

Hi Rob and Amy,

The EZ HD TV antenna is a great choice for your location. The TV antenna can be installed in a stationary position with the narrower end of the antenna aiming Southeast. This will provide reception from ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, two independent channels plus all sub channels offered by these stations. Along with the TV antenna I suggest using the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier for the absolute best results.

Best Regards,
Denny

Best TV antenna for:
San Jose, CA 94103

The address of where the antenna will be installed is __________ Dr. San Jose, CA. 95136. I would like to install the TV antenna in the attic. We have a concrete tile roof will this have an impact on the TV reception?

Greetings, The TV signals are strong at your location. The best antenna choice is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the TV antenna with the narrower end of the antenna aiming WSW. The roof tile may have some effect but the signals are strong so you should be okay. Denny

Best TV antenna for
Shingle Springs, California 95682

Hi Denny, We live just east of Sacramento, but there is a hill between us and the TV stations. We have used a directional antenna with reasonable success for ten years. The mast is about 20 feet high, but has become bent and the antenna has suffered some wind damage. reception on some channels is horrible and others are OK. We have a satellite and that works fine, but we do want to be able to view TV antenna sourced channels. Thanks, Richard

Greetings Richard,

If you would please send me the street address of where the TV antenna is to be installed so I may better advise you. The address will not be published.

Denny, Thanks for the amazingly fast reply. My address is _________St. Shingle Springs, CA. 95628.

Richard, At your location the HD Stacker TV antenna along with the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier is a sure bet. The hill is weakening the TV signals but the HD Stacker is a high performance TV antenna and will compensate for the effects of the hill. Best Regards, Denny

Best TV antenna for:
Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381

Submitted TV antenna recommendation form.

Name Mark
Address?________ Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381
How many feet above ground level will the TV antenna be installed? 18 feet
Will the antenna be installed outside or in the attic? Attic
If attic what building materials does the signal have to penetrate to reach the antenna? Wood, drywall, stucco
How many TV locations within your home will the TV antenna supply? 2 TV locations
How long will the coax cable run be from the TV antenna to the furthest TV? 25

Hi Mark,

I retrieved all of the reception data for your location. The main TV transmitters are located on Mt. Wilson about 32 miles to your East. The problem is there are higher elevations between your location and the TV transmitters partially obstructing the signals. The signal strength for these channels at your location is moderate to weak in strength. At your particular location I don't think any TV antenna installed in the attic will provide satisfactory reception on all channels available. Especially considering the signals must penetrate drywall and stucco. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear I'm just being honest with you.

My recommendation for reliable TV reception is the HD Stacker TV antenna installed outdoors above the roof line or at least on the East side of your home so the signals do not have to penetrate building materials to reach the TV antenna. The antenna should be installed aiming East at about 100 degrees on the compass. Along with the antenna use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. You can try the attic location but my confidence is low that the results will be reliable reception.

Best Regards,
Denny

Hello Sherman,

The antenna best suited for the reception conditions is the EZ HD TV antenna. Your area has both VHF and UHF signals and the EZ HD is designed to receive both frequencies equally well. To supply 4 TV locations I recommend the HDA 100 signal amplifier installed in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter.

Sherman, if you have any questions please feel free to reply.

I live in 90501 and am thinking of switching from Dish to a TV antenna. What channels are available and which antenna should I install?

Greetings David,

The reception data indicates the absolute best choice is the EZ HD TV antenna. Along with the antenna I suggest the AP 8700 preamplifier. PBS 28, AZA 54, PBS 58, IND 62, IND 44, UNI 34, PBS 50, IND 56, TBN 40, IND 22, CW 5, CBS 2, TEL 52, IND 9, TFA 46, ABC 7, FOX 11, IND 18, NBC 4, MYTV 13, IND 33, ION 30 plus all sub channels offered by these stations. 8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: Trying to pull in stations in the Bay Area, as well as Sacramento.

Hello Lance,

I'm sorry but according to the reception data the Bay Area signals are obstructed and likely are not available with reliability at your location. The terrain between your location and the San Francisco transmitters rises up from 1200 to 1400 feet higher than your location and is blocking the signals.

The Sacramento stations are available. To receive Sacramento I recommend the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming north-northwest. When supplying 3 television from the antenna I suggest a signal amplifier. A very good choice is the HDA 100 amplifier. Install the HDA 100 in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Hello Peter,

There are 5 station transmitters offering about 8 channels located to your ENE on Slide Mountain. The TV signals are VHF and UHF and are estimated to be moderate to weak in strength. The antenna best suited to receive both moderate and weak VHF and UHF signals is the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming East/Northeast. A preamplifier would be beneficial for the reception of the weaker signals. A very good choice when supplying 1 or 2 TVs is the AP 8700 preamplifier
