Best TV antenna for:
Albany, OR 97321

Name: Bill

Address: _________________________ Albany Oregon 97321

Approximately how many feet above ground level will the antenna be installed?: 20

Will the antenna be installed outside above the roofline, in the attic, etc...?: on the top of my brick chimney

How many TV locations within your home will the antenna supply? In other words, will a signal splitter be in use and if so how many times will the splitter divide the TV signal?: 1 tv

Approximately how long will the coax cable run be from the antenna to the TV. If a signal splitter is in use how long will the cable run be from the antenna to the furthest TV: 30 feet

Hi Bill,

There are both VHF and UHF signals available. The primary channels come from Eugene and Portland. The signals from Eugene are strong to moderate in strength while those from Portland are moderately weak. There are three options depending on what channels you want to receive.

1. Install the EZ HD TV antenna aiming South/Southeast. In this position the antenna will receive all of the Eugene stations. Because a signal splitter will not be in use and the cable run from the antenna to the TV is only 30 feet signal amplification should not be needed.

2. Install the HD Stacker TV antenna aiming North. Along with the antenna use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8700 will enhance the performance on the weaker signals from Portland. In this position the antenna will receive all of the Portland channels.

3. Same as #2 above except install a rotor allowing you to aim the antenna. This system will receive both the Portland and Eugene channels.

We have a customer not far from your location using #3 and he reports excellent reception from both the Portland and Eugenne channels.

If you have any further question please feel free to contact me.

Hello Richard,

There are two choices that will work great at your location.

1. The EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming North/Northwest. Along with the EZ HD use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier.

2. The HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming NNW. When using the HD Stacker a preamplifier will not be needed.

The choice is smaller antenna with preamplifier or larger antenna without preamplifier. Both will work great.

Hello Doug,

Your location has a partially obstructed line of sight to the transmitters. The antenna best suited for the reception conditions is the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the antenna in a stationary position aiming west/northwest. Along with the antenna I recommend the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8700 will boost the antenna signal delivering a strong signal to both TV locations.

Doug, if you have any questions please feel free to reply.

Hello Bob,

There is at least one channel of every major broadcast network available. There are 3 channels broadcasting on the low VHF signal band. To receive low band VHF requires a large antenna. A very good choice for your location is the HD 7084P TV antenna. This antenna performs well on low band, high band VHF and UHF signals. All three signal bands are present at your location. Along with the antenna you will benefit from a rotor. The rotor will allow you to aim the antenna to the appropriate direction.

Along with the antenna I recommend the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8700 will boost the antenna signal and help provide a strong signal to both TV locations within your home.

Bob, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reply.

Hello Jim,

The TV signals are both VHF and UHF frequencies. The signals are rated to be from strong to moderate in strength. I have two suggestions below.

1. The EZ HD antenna and the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier

2. The HD Stacker TV antenna without a signal amplifier.

Install the antenna aiming North. Either set up will provide great reception of all of the Portland channels.

Hi Raymond,

I retrieved all of the data for the location and my recommendation is the HD Stacker TV antenna and the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. Install the antenna aiming North/Northwest at about 35 degrees on the compass.

Newberg, OR. sounded familiar to me so I did some checking and we have a report from Newberg. You may know the man in the picture. The report can be seen on the lower portion of the page at the link below

I'm very confident the recommended euipment will provide excellent TV reception on all of the major broadcast networks.

Have cable and have frequent problems with reflected signal from local stations bleeding in through connections. Cable company "can't" fix the problem or boost their signal. Thank you

Hello Loren,

Your location is very good for free TV reception. The antenna best suited for the reception conditions is the EZ HD antenna. Install the antenna aiming west/southwest as shown by the arrow in the attached photo. When supplying 5 TV locations a signal amplifier will be needed. A very good choice is the HDA 100 signal distribution amplifier. Install the HDA 100 in line within a 50 foot coax cable run from the antenna on the antenna side of the signal splitter. I'm very confident this equipment will provide excellent reception 24/7.

If I can assist you further, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Sean,

I retrieved the reception data and according to the data the EZ HD TV antenna is a very good choice. The antenna should be installed aiming north-northwest at about 340 degrees on the compass. It's probably best if the antenna were installed outdoors. However, you could try the attic first and move it outdoors only if necessary.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

5. If the antenna will be installed in the attic what kind of building materials will the TV signal have to penetrate to reach the antenna in the attic?: Composition Shingles & plywood & tar paper

8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: I currently have two indoor amplified HD antennas, but am not picking up the VHF channels, 8-12. Could this plug into these and be used to help amplify the signal?

Hi Warren,

The VHF channel issues you report is common when using any indoor antenna. These antennas are not large enough to receive the VHF signals properly so most fail to do so.

A very good antenna choice is the EZ HD TV antenna. This antenna receives both the VHF and UHF signals equally well. Install the antenna aiming North. In this position the EZ HD antenna will provide reception on all of the channels.

It is not a good idea to try incorporate the indoor antennas you have into the system. I doubt there would be any benefit and more likely it would worsen the reception.

To supply the 4 TV locations with good strong signal use the HDA 100 signal amplifier. Install the HDA 100 in line before the signal splitter. The system would be set up as follows. Run coax cable from the antenna to the HDA 100 amplifier. From the amplifier to the signal splitter and from the signal splitter to each TV location.

If you have any further questions please ask.

8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: Would prefer Portland signals over Eugene.

Hello Michael,

The antenna best suited to receive the Portland stations at your location is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming North. When supplying multiple TVs I suggest the HDA 100 signal amplifier installed in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter. This set up will provide excellent reception on all of the Portland stations.

Hello Robert,

The antenna best suited for the reception conditions at your location is the EZ HD TV antenna. People have ordered a lot of these antenna into your area with excellent results. The antenna should be installed aiming north. Because the coax cable run to the TVs are short and only a 2 way signal splitter will be in use I don't think signal amplification will be needed.

If you have any questions please feel free to reply.

Hello Jacque,

Hopefully the patio has a northern exposure. If it does you should get great reception using the EZ HD antenna. If the apartment building is between the patio and the transmitters to the North the reception will likely not be good. Along with the antenna use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. You don't need two antennas. Use one antenna and divide the TV signal using a 2 way signal splitter.

Jacque, if I can assist you further please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards,
