minimax TV Antenna
Denny,

I got the antenna up last weekend and its working great!  I originally pointed it at channel 3 like I found works best with my other antenna, and channel 3 was pegged at 100% but in that position channel 20's signal wasn't very strong or consistent.  Next I tried pointing it at 20 even though I knew channel 3 would lose some strength, so that got channel 20's signal up to 100% but channel 3 only went down to around 80%!  Now 3, 20, and 55 are consistently at least 80% (20 and 55 don't come off of 100%), and 17 is around 60%.  I'm not all that worried about 17, as its the closest and I think even coming in on the side of the antenna its going to remain more consistent due to its proximity to me.  I've also attached a picture of the antenna mounted in my attic.  Its working so well I doubt I'll move it out to the roof.  Thanks for all the help!

Chris

Hi Denny & Rhonda.

Rhonda, thank you so much for your recommendation! You were right on the money when you recommended the Mini Max antenna for use at my mothers 2-story home in San Antonio TX.

Remember when I told you that 90% of the Distribution Antennas were at compass heading 150* & only 15 miles away & that the CW station was at heading 330* & about 40 miles away? You told me to point the antenna at the weakest station which was the CW. I pointed it at 330*, even though all the others were at 150* and would you believe that I got EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL available out of San Antonio. 28 channels in all!!!

I am attaching pics. I mounted the MiniMax to a 36" J Pole bolted hanging upside down to the top ridge beam in the attic of the 2nd level, then ran about 20' of cable from there to the Wingard HDA100 distribution amp, then from there to a 3-way splitter distributing tv to 3 separate rooms.
I was going to mount this on the roof but I am so glad to have tried it in the attic first! Any of you living close to the Distribution antennas, try the attic first and NOT the roof. If may not be necessary.
Kudos to Rhonda for the recommendation!

Tip for everyone...I recommend using the 36" J Pole & not the 18" one for the attic. There are so many support beams that can get in the way, the the elements of the MiniMax are pretty long, you will have the flexibility of mounting it hanging from a beam or right side up on a floor of the attic.

My sincere gratitude,

Paul ___________, Austin TX
