Best TV antenna for:
Ault, CO 80610

Denny, I wanted you input, since I came across your website and based on what I've been reading you have an extensive amount of experience and I noticed you had recommended a TV antenna for someone nearby. Thus I wanted to see what you thought would be the best solution since I have to mount the antenna in the attic and I want the best TV antenna set up possible. What do you recommend, TV antenna, amplifier, etc.

Thanks! Bill

Greetings Bill,

The HD Stacker TV antenna is perfect choice for your location. Install the antenna aiming South at about 195 degrees on the compass. In this position you will receive the Denver channels, A few nearby channels and some channels from Cheyenne WY. Along with the antenna I do recommend a preamplifier. If the Stacker antenna will supply 1 TV location or 2 locations using a 2 way signal splitter go with the HDP 269 antenna preamplifier. If a 3 way signal splitter or larger will be in use go with the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. If you have further questions please feel free to contact me.

Best Regards,
Denny

4. Will the antenna be installed outside above the roofline, in the attic, etc...?: Attic
5. If the antenna will be installed in the attic what kind of building materials will the TV signal have to penetrate to reach the antenna in the attic?: Plywood and asphalt shingles
6. How many TV locations within your home will the antenna supply? In other words, will a signal splitter be in use and if so how many times will the splitter divide the TV signal?: 9
7. Approximately how long will the coax cable run be from the antenna to the TV. If a signal splitter is in use how long will the cable run be from the antenna to the furthest TV: 75'
8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: I purchased an EZ-HD antenna from you in January 2012 and I'm hoping that I'll be able to reuse after we move. We are building a 2 story house to be ready in March of 2013 or so, but I want to be prepared for TV signal ahead of time. We are going to have all bedrooms, rec room, family room, etc wired with RG6 solid copper core and all runs will terminate in the basement. We are having conduit ran from the attic to the basement to make it easy to get cables back and forth. We also will have an outlet in the attic to accomodate a signal booster. This is what I think I'll need; coax to go from the antenna to the basement (guessing 30' or so), signal booster and cable associated with that, signal splitter to handle the 9 rooms plus the antenna connection (10 total), enough cable to make jumpers from the wall to the TV (guessing 50' should cover it), and 20 compression fittings. I already have a cable stripper and compression tool from the first time. If I'm missing something, please let me know. Hopefully this makes sense. If not or you would like to discuss, please call me at 303 349 5223. Thank you in advance for your awesome support!

Hi David,

The EZ HD TV antenna should work great at this location. Install the antenna aiming West.

There's no such thing as a 9 way signal splitter. The best option is to use a 2 way splitter feeding a 4 way and a 6 way providing 10 outputs. Cap off the unused splitter output with an F terminator. See http://store03.prostores.com/servlet/dennysantennaservicestore/the-94/75-ohm-F-terminator/Detail

To supply the entire system I suggest the HDA 200 signal amplifier. The amplifier can be installed in the basement at the end of the 30 foot run from the antenna. From the HDA 200 run to a 2 way splitter and from one port of the 2 way to a 4 way and from the other port to a 6 way.

I think the 50 feet of cable will cover making the 9 jumpers from the wall to the TV's unless there will be a TV at a long distance from the wall plate.

Best TV antenna for:
Broomfield, Colorado 80020

Hi

I'm looking for a TV antenna-great website. I live in Broomfield, CO 80020

Dan

Greetings Dan,

The EZ HD TV antenna is a great choice for the location. Install the antenna with the narrower end of the antenna aiming South/Southwest. This will provide reliable reception from all of the Denver area channels. If the antenna will supply a single TV without the use of a signal splitter signal amplification should not be needed. If a signal splitter will be in line then it is best if you install a signal distribution amplifier. The HDA 100 amplifier is a good choice. Install the HDA 100 amplifier before the signal splitter on the antenna side of the splitter.

Best Regards,
Denny

Hello Joe,

The antenna best suited to meet the reception conditions at your location is the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming west-northwest. The signals are somewhat weak due to the terrain. It's likely a very good idea to use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8700 will enhance the overall performance providing a stronger signal.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Hi Lerpy,

The main TV transmitting towers are located to your East. The signals are rated from moderate to weak in strength at your location. The antenna best suited to receive all of the channels is the HD Stacker TV antenna. The antenna should be installed aiming East.

A preamplifier would likely be a benefit especially on a couple of the weaker signal channels. A very good choice is the AP 8700 antenna antenna preamplifier.

Hi John,

Yes, the transmitters are to your South on Cheyenne Mountain. The antenna best suited for the reception conditions is the EZ HD TV antenna. There are both VHF and UHF signals available. This antenna receives both VHF and UHF signals equally well. I think you'll get great reception from the attic. Install the antenna aiming South.

Hi David,

The repeaters to your East are broadcasting both VHF and UHF frequency signals. A very good choice is the EZ HD TV antenna. This antenna performs equally well on both the VHF and UHF frequency bands. Install the antenna aiming East at about 90 degrees on the compass. In addition to the antenna use the AP 8780 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8780 provides increased UHF signal gain that will benefit for some of the weaker UHF signals.

If you need anything else just let me know.

8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: An antenna that "looks" like a dish w/be GR8; it is a condo with HOA rule

Greetings,

The TV transmitters are located SSW of you location so the southerly facing exposure you have is good. However, any antenna that looks like a satellite dish or is in a plastic box etc... will not perform well when receiving VHF TV signals. The Denver market has 3 VHF stations. The ABC, NBC and PBS affiliates are broadcasting a VHF signal. The best antenna option is the EZ HD TV antenna. This antenna receives VHF and UHF signals equally well. The longer elements on the antenna are for VHF signal and any antenna without these elements will not perform well when VHF signal reception is needed.

The HOA rule that you mentioned is not enforceable. The law is on your side when it comes to installing an antenna on private use property. See http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/tech/products/story/2012-04-29/pegoraro-rooftop-antenna/54582432/1

I think if you go with a small antenna that doesn't look like an antenna the reception of ABC, NBC and PBS will suffer because these antennas do not receive VHF signals.

Hello Ray,

The EZ HD TV antenna is perfect for your location. However, if the signals must penetrate brick to reach the antenna in the attic the reception may not be good. Signals do not penetrate brick very well and are more likely to be reflected. There's a very good chance you will have to install the antenna at a location that the brick will not be in the signal path of signals coming from the west. This is true no matter what antenna is in use.

If you have any questions please feel free to reply.

Hello Rick,

A perfect antenna for your location is the EZ HD TV antenna. We have a lot of these antennas in and around the Denver area. Install the antenna aiming South/Southwest. To supply 4 TV locations will require signal amplification. The HDA 100 amplifier is my recommendation. Install the HDA 100 amplifier in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter.

If I can assist you further, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hello George,

The TV signals are partially obstructed by a mountain ridge or two. Especially CW 2.1 and FOX 31.1. The TV signals are available using the HD Stacker TV antenna. The antenna should be installed aiming north/northeast. The reception should be great inside the attic or on the roof top. When supplying multiple TV location I recommend the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8700 will boost the antenna signal and deliver a strong signals to all TV locations within your home.

George, if you have any questions please feel free to reply.

Submitted TV antenna recommendation form.

Name Casey
Address?________ Fort Collins, CO 80526
How many feet above ground level will the TV antenna be installed? 40 feet
Will the antenna be installed outside or in the attic? Outside
If attic what building materials does the signal have to penetrate to reach the antenna? NA
How many TV locations within your home will the TV antenna supply? 1 TV locations
How long will the coax cable run be from the TV antenna to the furthest TV? 50 - 75 feet
Include any additional information. I'm not sure what else I would need to include since I am quite unsure of what I might understand.

Hi Casey,

The correct TV antenna will be determined by what channels you want to receive. There are stations near to Fort Collins producing a pretty strong signal at your location. Plus there are Denver stations on Look Out Mt. that are somewhat weaker at your location.

To receive the local channels plus likely a few from Denver use the MS 1000 omnidirectional TV antenna with the HDP 269 antenna preamplifier. This TV antenna will provide good reception on most major broadcast networks and some of the Denver channels.

If you want to receive all of the channels available including all of the Denver channels use the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the HD Stacker antenna aiming South. To supply signal to one TV as you are signal amplification should not be needed.

If you are not sure what you may need to complete the installation or how to install it I suggest you visit the "Help Center".

Hello Ross,

The TV station transmitters are in two directions from your location. The network channels NBC and FOX are West/Southwest and and CBS and ABC are located East. To complicate matters a little more is CBS is broadcasting a low band VHF signal which will require a larger antenna to be received.

My recommendation is to use two antennas. Use the HD 7010 antenna aiming East. This antenna is large enough to receive the low band VHF signal from CBS. Use the EZ HD antenna aiming WSW. Couple the two antennas together by running two coax cables of equal length from each antenna to the CC 7870 antenna coupler and from the coupler run a short cable to the AP 8700 mast preamplifier. This option will provide reception from all channels to all TVs without the need to adjust the antenna. The other option would be to install the HD 7010 with a antenna rotor so you can aim the antenna.

If you have any further questions please feel free to reply.

Hi Cary,

The EZ HD TV antenna is a great choice for the location. We have three positive reception reports from customer's using the EZ HD in your area. Install the antenna aiming North/Northwest. The signals are strong enough that using the EZ HD antenna may not require signal amplification. I would try without amplification. In the unlikely event some of the signals are a little weak you can always add the HDA 100 signal distribution amplifier inline on the antenna side of the signal splitter.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Randy,

There are a few TV stations near to your location. However, to receive all available networks you will need to receive the Denver stations. The antenna best suited for the location is the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming South. Along with the antenna I recommend the HDA 100 signal amplifier. Install the HDA 100 inline just before the signal splitter on the antenna side of the splitter.

I'm very confident that the recommended equipment will provide excellent reception at your location.

If you have any further questions please ask.

Hi Robby,

Under the circumstances I am going to offer two recommendations that will work.

1. Use the EZ HD TV antenna and the HDA 100 signal amplifier. Install the antenna aiming SSW. Install the HDA 100 signal amplifier in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter.

2. Use the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the Stacker aiming SSW. A signal amplifier should not be needed with the HD Stacker antenna.

In other words, the smaller EZ HD antenna with amplifier or the larger HD Stacker antenna without amplifier. Either way should work equally well.

If you have any further questions please ask.

Hi Karl,

According to the reception data from two separate sources the TV signals from Denver are not reaching your location with enough strength to provide reliable reception no matter what TV antenna is in use. The geo maps show 3 locations between your location and the Denver transmitters with enough elevation to obstruct the Denver signals.

Under the circumstances I can't recommend any antenna to receive the Denver channels.

To receive the Colorado Springs channels I suggest the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming West/Southwest.

To supply 5 TV locations within your home I recommend a distribution amplifier installed in line on the antenna side of the signal splitter. A very good choice is the HDA 100 signal amplifier.

You can install a FM antenna to the same mast. I recommend at least a 3 foot spacing between the antennas. The EZ HD antenna recommended above does a very good job receiving FM signals.

If you have any further questions please ask.
