HD Stacker antenna range

Hello Denny, I noticed your new stacker antenna. I'm curious about the estimated range of this antenna. Thank you, Michael

Hi Michael,
>
As you may already know if you've been around my website I'm not a big believer in putting range in miles on a TV antenna. I do it because it's required by the consumer. There are so many variables involved.
>

There are a few areas in the USA where it's not uncommon to receive signals from 100 miles away with a very small antenna. This is due to wide open flat terrain creating an excellent line of sight from the transmitter to the receiving antenna. On the other hand in a densely wooded area of the country the same antenna that worked at 100 miles may struggle to receive a signal from 20 miles away.
>
If I had to put a range on the Stacker... and I think I do because that's what most consumers want for comparison shopping... I would give the antenna a range of 80 miles over reasonable good terrain. Semi obstructed terrain 60 miles and very poor terrain 45 miles.  That's what you can expect from any top performing antenna without unreasonable antenna elevation. Any claim that states antenna range of over 80 miles is very misleading.
>
The problem with stating antenna range is there's no standardized test to determine antenna range and nearly every location varies.
>
So the honest answer is 60 to 80 miles.
>
The tested signal gain figures of the Stacker are what count.

High Band VHF............ Avg. 11.2 dB
UHF............................Avg. 13.1

Those gain figures are right up there with the big boys.
