Hi --
Pls recommend an antenna for me.
I live in the country. Stations are located in almost all parts of the
compass, most fairly far away.
My criteria, in no particular order:
-- Big, outdoor, directional, ugly is OK. The priority is excellent
reception, even of marginal signals. (My existing antenna is a million years
old and not in good shape. The rotator is newer and in good shape, however.)
-- Analog now, digital when I have to (Feb 09), HD whenever.
-- No junk.
-- Antenna will feed two TVs in the house. (I'd welcome advice on stuff like
splitters, amplifiers and wiring, but it's not important right now.)
Thanks!

Greetings Mike,
NO JUNK! to be found here. As a matter of fact you hit on one of my most frustrating subjects. It seems as though all you can buy anymore is junk. In my opinion the problem all starts with the average consumer. If you place a quality item and a cheap junk item next to each other on a store shelf the average consumer will purchase the junk just to save a few bucks. Most of the time the slightly higher priced quality item will save them much more money in the long run. This forces the manufacturer of the quality item out of business or it forces them to make junk and all you have left available is junk.
To get the highest quality antennas available I had to bring them in from Canada. Up until a few months ago I thought Winegard was making the best antennas available, until I got my hands on a Delhi. The Delhi antennas are far superior to every antenna I have ever seen, both in performance and the quality of construction. The antenna of choice for your location is the
Delhi HD 2800. This antenna will provide you with excellent reception and long term service.
Along with the antenna I suggest the
Winegard AP 8700 preamplifier to supply signal to both TV's.
Signal splitters perform pretty much the same from one brand to the other. We offer two choices the standard and professional grade. The only difference between the two is the professional grade has superior weather sealing and is better suited for outdoor use. Indoors the standard splitter will perform just as well.
The best choice in coax cable is
RG 6 solid copper. Most cable sold today is copper clad, steel wire coated with copper. We don't even carry copper clad cable.
I am very confident that this equipment properly installed (I'm here to help if you need it) will provide you with excellent reception for both analog and digital/HD signals.
If you would like detailed information on how to install the equipment, or if I can assist you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Denny,
I live in Cushing OK. as you probably heard we just suffered through a MAJOR ice storm. On your advice I purchased a Delhi antenna from you in early Nov. model HD 2500. As I sat here without power watching trees, power lines and everything else come down I couldn't help wondering about the new antenna I had just installed. I'm 69 years old and have lived in this area all of my life and can't remember a worse ice storm. Since we had no power I couldn't check to see if the TV was still working. I finally ventured outside two days after the storm to examine the damage. As I made it out the door to the driveway and looked up I couldn't believe the antenna was still in one piece and the arms were still horizontal. With all of the damage around the area I still can't believe the antenna made it. It's built like things were built 50 years ago.
The extra $50 dollars for the antenna was definitely worthwhile.
