Best TV antenna for:
Boise, ID 83714

I'm here in Boise ID 83714. My address is ____________. I've been using an indoor antenna for years. However, when someone is moving around in the house or sometimes when a car drives by the picture stutters and sometimes we can't hear the sound for 10 to 20 seconds. I have a strong signal according to my TV. Most channels are 4 and 5 bars out of 6 and the signal says good. Do you think an outdoor TV antenna will take care of this? If so which one? I only have 1 TV in the living room I care to connect to the antenna. Thanks, Clifton (Cliff).

Hi Cliff,

Yes, I think an outdoor TV antenna will eliminate the problem. Two reasons why. 1. The outdoor antenna will capture the signal better (more signal gain) than the indoor antenna. 2. With the outdoor antenna mounted higher the signal path from the transmitters to your outdoor antenna will be above the objects that are moving and causing the picture to stutter and lose of sound.

Just about anywhere in the Boise area the EZ HD TV antenna is an excellent choice. The TV transmitters are located up near 7,000 feet to the Northeast of Boise and are basically looking down on the whole area. The only name I could find on the map near to the towers is Shaffer Butte. From your location install the narrower end of the EZ HD antenna aiming Northeast at about 30 degrees on the compass. Here's a link to see the aiming position of the antenna. http://dennysantennaservice.com/ez_hd_and_hd_stacker_aiming.htm l

Because you stated connection to only 1 TV (no signal splitter in line) a signal amplifier will not be needed.

Denny

3. Approximately how many feet above ground level will the antenna be installed?: 10 Feet
4. Will the antenna be installed outside above the roof line or in the attic, other: Above the roof
6. How many TV locations within your home will the antenna supply? In other words, will a signal splitter be in use and if so how many times will the splitter divide the TV signal?: 2 TVs
7. Approximately how long will the coax cable run be from the antenna to the TV. If a signal splitter is in use how long will the cable run be from the antenna to the furthest TV: 24 ft

Hello Jesus,

The antenna best suited for the reception conditions at your location is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming east/northeast. To supply 2 TVs with short cable runs should not require a signal amplifier.

If you have any questions please feel free to reply.

Best TV antenna for:
Chubbuck, Idaho 83202

Hey, like your site! Very informative so I thought I'd take you up on your offer for an antenna recommendation. My address is ___________ Chubbuck, ID 83202. I can install the antenna in the attic or outdoors. Please let me know what you think. Terry

Hi Terry,

The NBC and FOX network towers are to your East at about 7 miles. ABC, CBS, and PBS towers are to your North/Northwest at about 40 miles. The line of sight to each location is open. Looking at all of the data available to me I think the MS 1000 omnidirectional TV antenna is a very good choice. It is best if you mount it outdoor above your roof line.

You didn't mention how many TVs the antenna will supply. I recommend the following signal amplification.
One TV connection no signal splitter HDP 269 antenna preamplifier.
Two to four TV connections using a 2, 3, or 4 way signal splitter AP 8700 preamplifier.

If you have any further questions just let me know.

Best Regards,
Denny

8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: House has clear line of sight to Schaffer Butte (presumed transmitter location)

Hello Andrew,

The station transmitters are located on Shafer Butte and you do have an excellent line of sight to the transmitters. There are both VHF and UHF signals available. The antenna best suited for the reception conditions is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming ENE at about 65 degrees on the compass. To supply 3 TVs with a maximum 160 foot cable run use the HDA 100 signal amplifier installed in line on the antenna side of the signal.

BTW. We have two cutomer's in your area reporting excellent reception using the EZ HD antenna.

If I can assist you further, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Mark,

The TV transmitting towers are located to your ESE at only 21 miles near Shafer Butte. However, there are ridges that are blocking the line of sight to the transmitters weaken the signals more than the distance would indicate. Under the conditions I recommend the HD Stacker TV antenna. Install the antenna aiming East/Southeast.

Along with the antenna use the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier. The AP 8700 will enhance performance and provide the best possible signal to each of the 3 TV locations in your home.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reply.

Hi David,

All of the station transmitter are located South of Spokane to your WSW except the ABC transmitter. The ABC transmitter is located to your Northwest near Mt. Spokane State Park. You can receive all of the channels except possibly ABC by using the EZ HD antenna aiming WSW with the AP 8700 preamplifier

To receive all stations including ABC I recommend the EZ HD bi-directional antenna system. This kit comes with two EZ HD antennas, one antenna coupler, one AP 8700 preamplifier and three short connecting cables. Aim one antenna WSW and the other Northwest.

If you have any questions or if I can assist you further please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best TV antenna for:
Nampa, ID 83687

I am interested in your recommendation for an antenna.

1. ___________ Nampa, Idaho 83687
2. We'll have 4 TV's running off of this antenna. All have coax connections already wired. Given the number of TV's and the fact that some are at the other end of the house from where the antenna will be positioned, do you think we'll need an amplifier? I have read conflicting opinions on this.
3. I intend to install the antenna on the roof.

Please let me know what recommendations you have.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Layne

Hi Layne,

The TV signals are both VHF and UHF frequencies. A very good antenna choice for your location is the EZ HD TV antenna. Install the narrower end of the antenna aiming East/Northeast.

To supply the 4 TV locations within your home I do recommend signal amplification. I suggest the HDA 100 signal distribution amplifier. Install the HDA 100 within a 50 foot coax cable length from the TV antenna on the antenna side of the signal splitter.

I'm very confident that the recommended equipment will produce outstanding TV reception.

Best Regards,
Denny

Best TV antenna for:
Post Falls, ID 83854

Hello, was wondering if you could tell me what TV antenna would work best in Post Falls, id 83854. Any input would be helpful.
Brian

Greetings Brian,

The TV transmitting towers are located in 3 directions from your location. They are, ENE, WSW, and WNW in direction. However, the signal strength rating is quite strong at your location. All of the reception data indicates the MS 1000 omnidirectional TV antenna is a perfect choice. I suggest the antenna be mounted outdoors above the roof line so it can get a signal path to all 3 directions.

If the TV antenna will supply a single TV and a signal splitter will not be in use the HDP 269 antenna preamplifier would be beneficial to the reception. If a signal splitter will be in line go with the AP 8700 antenna preamplifier.

This set up should provide reception from all 3 direction without the need to adjust the antenna.

If you need anything else just let me know.

Best Regards,
Denny

7. Approximately how long will the coax cable run be from the antenna to the TV. If a signal splitter is in use how long will the cable run be from the antenna to the furthest TV: 50
8. Include any additional information you feel may be helpful when evaluating your reception conditions.: pine trees

Hello Paul,

Most of the TV transmitting towers are located 23 miles to your SSW. However, to counteract the effects of the pines I recommend the HD Stacker TV antenna. The HD Stacker is overkill for the distance but considering the pine trees it's the best choice. Here's something I don't understand. The transmitters for CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, CW, and ION are all located to your SSW on a mountain ridge SSE of Spokane. The ABC transmitter is located to your WNW on Mt. Spokane. Why the ABC station did this I can't tell you. But to receive the ABC channel will require rotation of the antenna. A very good rotor choice is the Channel Master 9521A.

In addition to the antenna it is likely best if you use the HDP 269 antenna preamplifier. The HDP 269 will enhance the overall performance, help with the pine trees and deliver a strong signal to both TV locations.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
