I have helped Dennis in the television
antenna business for 18 years. When it comes
to the installation of the antenna
systems I usually just watch. Some people do not
like to get on the roof, well I am one of those. Our
customers call Dennis the
antenna specialist. When he goes out to install I usually stay at
the antenna shop and work.
Over the years watching Dennis do the installations I have become
knowledgeable on
the subjects of rotors, amplifiers, antennas, mounts hook-up
etc.. Installing a TV
antenna for the do-it-yourself person can be simple, I have even
done it. You just
need to understand what you are trying to do first.
People call antennas
many names like tv antenna, television antenna, aerial tv,
roof top antenna, but they all are the same thing.
I mainly do all the phone answering
for Denny's Antenna Service (TV Antenna Source) and help with the
antenna business
order processing. When I am not talking about antennas,
rotors, amplifiers, or the how
to install or trouble shoot them I work on the crafts as a
hobby. Some interesting facts over the
years.
Since we have been in the T.V. antenna business we
have seen some common
things in people.
2 out of 10 people ask how to spell antenna when
writing a check. Some of the ways
we have seen it wrote are TV antena, TV antennae, Dennys
telivision antennae.
1/4 of them just write Denny's TV. People also
miss spell the word Winegard they spell
it like Wineguard.
Customers also get vhf & uhf mixed up. They
will call the lower channel numbers
uhf & vhf the high channels.
With amplifiers (boosters) when they are a 2 part
system. They like to call the power
supply the amp.
We have sold thousands of the Winegard MS-2000
omni directional amplified vhf & uhf
TV antenna. Our #1 referred antenna. People call here and
use some of the most interesting
words. When they are looking for that antenna some of the things we
hear are: looks like
a Frisbee antenna, round antenna (most popular), saucer antenna,
plate antenna,
dish antenna, flat antenna, modern antenna, looks like a big
vent,
the one you can use on your RV antenna, local antenna, the one that
has the amplifier in it.
Now conventional antennas get called things like
the best longest lasting antenna,
the real good one, old fashion antenna, one with bars on it, prong
antenna,
the kind my parents had when I was a kid, kind that turns, rotor
antenna,
big long antenna hi def antenna.
We always help figure out what they need and help them choose there
TV antenna system.
There are alot more free
television channels available now with hi def tv. Do you
pay to watch free tv channels. Check and see what kind of tv
channels you view, maybe
they are free tv channels.

Rhonda is my wife of
26 years, and the woodcrafter in our family. It all began
a few years back when her father Matt returned to live, here
in Ithaca. He built a wood working shop here on the property,
taught her the basics skills, and the rest is history. Just
about a year ago Rhonda designed and made a Michigan like the
one pictured below. It was a gift for a friend, at the time she had
no idea nearly everyone who saw it, would want one. If you

sells them for $35.00 which I think is to cheap, for the time
it takes to make one. They are made of oak, and she says she
will design and make any state. She is currently
designing the United States, which I'm sure will appear here soon,
